Barcelona top First Club Rankings of 2013

Football Club Rankings 1-7-13

We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and after a one week break the rankings are back. Barcelona picked up where they left off in 2012 as the top ranked club in the world. Manchester United moved up, as we wait for all the major leagues to restart.

If you missed it, on the 1st we ranked the 10 most difficult stadiums in the world to play for 2013. It turned out to be our most shared article ever with over 2,000 likes and retweets. So a special thanks to everyone who thought it was noteworthy. If we continue at this pace we’ll achieve our ultimate goal of making FootballClubRankings.com one of the world’s favorite Soccer / Football sites. We have big plans for 2013, so thanks again to everyone for checking out the rankings each week.

Just Missed: Malaga, Bayer Leverkusen, Celtic, Atlético Madrid, Benfica

10. Porto
Porto is back in the rankings as they get ready for their big showdown at Benfica next Sunday. (nr)

9. Manchester City
Good thing City have Mario Balotelli, he single-handedly keeps them in the news. (10-3)

8. Shakhtar Donetsk
A few clubs will be after Shakhtar’s stars during the transfer window, but with the Miners still alive in the Champions League it’s unlikely any big names will leave. (7-11)

7. Real Madrid
Real Madrid continues to give up goals, and will be an interesting January in the Spanish capital to say the least.  (7-19)

6. PSG
Ligue 1 action gets back underway next weekend. (6-5)

5. Juventus
Of course days after we named Juventus Stadium as the world’s most difficult place to play, Sampdoria pulls off a shocking win at Juventus. The loss drops Juve down the rankings, but might make them more active in the transfer window. (5-19)

4. Dortmund
Will Dortmund bring in players during the transfer window to attempt a UCL challenge? (4-9)

3. Manchester United
United is looking like a better team with each passing week. Their UCL match-up against Real is really something to get excited about. (5-18)

2. Bayern Munich
Bayern are on winter break this week, but it didn’t stop them from moving up the rankings to 2nd. The Bundesliga will be back in action in two weeks. (3-19)

1. Barcelona
Barcelona look as if they could stay number 1 in the world for a long time to come.
(1-19-8)

Match of the Upcoming Week: Benfica v. #10 Porto

The (numbers) are the previous week’s rank, followed by consecutive weeks ranked. The #1 team has a third number indicating weeks in the top spot.

:) Very interesting site. Just one extra, why do you guys don’t use the real FCPorto crest? Makes no sense using for all the other teams their real crest and to FCPorto using their “mascot” and their stadium symbol.

That logo from Porto FC is the correct one, that´s the stadium symbol and ideology, BIG FAIL!

Ricardo, good point, if Porto make the rankings next week we’ll use their correct crest.
