The Champions League returns this week, and this is the time of year the debate about who is the best really heats up. It certainly was an eventful weekend in England as United keep the pressure on City. Oh and by the way there is a new #1 team as Real takes over the top spot from Barcelona. Even many of the upcoming Europa League match-ups should be worth watching.

10. PSG
After a Ligue 1 tie PSG is in jeopardy of falling from the top ten, as a lot of clubs are making a case for the top 10. The eyes of France will be focused on their big match against second place Montpellier on Sunday. (8-4)


9. Tottenham
Spurs are one of the most inform sides in Europe at the moment. Their chances of making a case for the Premier League will hang in the balance in the coming weeks as Arsenal and United loom on the horizon.(nr)


8. AC Milan
It was a big win for Milan over Udinese. Stephan El Shaarawy is turning into the hottest prospect in Europe. The focus now shifts to the Arsenal match as Boateng, Pato and Nesta could all be back from injuries. (9-18)


7. Bayern Munich
Bayern got back on track after a 2-0 win over Kaiserslautern.  The Germans will need be at their best moving forward as they’re competing on many fronts. (7-23)


Club Football Rankings 6. Benfica
Another big win in Portugal has Benfica poised for what should be a very interesting UCL match on Wednesday against Zenit. (6-11)


5. Manchester City
The pressure was on City to win at Aston Villa and they did. Thursday’s Europa League match-up against Porto should also be very intriguing. (5-23)


4. Manchester United
There was plenty to talk about after the game against Liverpool, but win should energize United to push for another Premier League Trophy.(4-22)


3. Juventus
Juventus had yet another Serie A match postponed do to weather, and that is probably good news for their opponents. Even though we give little weight to domestic cup matches, their mid-week Coppa win over Milan at the San Siro was impressive. (3-13)


Barcelona Football Rankings2. Barcelona
After a nine week run in the top spot, Real jump Barcelona to take over at number one. Barca left us no choice but to drop them from the top spot after falling 10pts behind Madrid in La Liga. (1-23)


1. Real Madrid
Real move 10 points clear and that cushion should come in handy down the stretch. Madrid will have to wait another week before they restart Uefa action against CSKA. (2-23-1)
